Over the past few months, filmmaker Jake Bergen of Wingnut Studios followed us around filming what we do at CaliCan. We will premier the documentary on June 8 at the St. Albert Grandin Theatres at 9:30 AM. We hope you can join us. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the trailer!
Super talented (and all around great guy), Jake, of Wingnut Studios followed us around for our rescue flight in March 2013. He got footage of the shelters we pull from, what the dogs go through before they head to Canada, and the arrival.
You can read all about it here: Wingnut Studios: Sneak Peek
Jake got a lot more footage than he was anticipating, and he’s still planning to shoot some more. Until then, he has produced “CaliCan Shorts”. These are one minute videos explaining the processes we go through before a pup gets adopted.
We hope you’ll enjoy the videos as much as we do!
We were invited to participate in the “National Pet Adoption Weekend” at Pet Valu. We will be at the Albany location (127 Street & 167 Avenue) on Saturday, April 20 from 12-4pm.
We’ll be doing things a little differently for the next flight. In order to participate, we will need to have adoptable pups at the event. Considering how supportive you have all been, the past flights saw most of those dogs go immediately to successful trial visits. This is fantastic for the dogs, however it wouldn’t be much of an adoption event if we had no adoptable dogs with us that day.
While the dogs will be coming up on Friday, April 12, we will not be posting their profiles on adoptapet.com until the evening of Wednesday, April 17. Mark your calendars so you can see the adoptable dogs on the site and have a pup (or two?) in mind that you would like to meet in person at Pet Valu.
In the past, we haven’t been able to have the public meet the dogs first before submitting an application, but this time is different! We will be taking applications on site and then reviewing them after the event. All applicants will receive a phone call to let them know if they are the successful family (or not). Unfortunately we cannot let the pups go straight from the adoption event as we are anticipating multiple applicants and as always:
We operate on best fit rather than first come, first served
Even if you aren’t planning to adopt a pooch in the near future, please come out to say hi! We’ll have a free dog wash, cookie bake sale (for dogs AND people) and of course meeting the latest bunch of adorable rescues!
