Can you believe that we are FINALLY into Summer – okay, maybe the official date isn’t until June 21, but the weather has really started to make a brave face of sun and blue skies!
As schools let out, employers start granting far more vacation days than they’d admittedly want to, and the dog trails become more populated than usual…we wanted to share with you a few events coming up this summer that are promising to be amazing!
Whether you’re looking to attend an adoption event to potentially meet that new furry family member, or want to come out to fun social activities and support this group, we have a full summer of fun planned!
Having so much on the go, we can definitely use some volunteers! So if you’re interested please contact our Volunteer & Events Coordinator at cortney@calicanrescue.com and Cortney will make sure you get a volunteer application.

These pups will be posted to our Adoptables Page later in the week, as they will be making their first public debut at the upcoming Adoption Event!

Adoption Event!!! Pet Valu Albany – 12756 167 Avenue, Edmonton
Come join the Pet Valu Albany store as they celebrate their GRAND OPENING!! They graciously hosted us in April for their National Adoption Drive, and had such fun they wanted to bring us (okay, the adoptables) back for more puppy love! We will have adoptable dogs on site that day – so come meet them all!

CaliCan Gets Schooled! – Lee Ridge Elementary School
We were so honored to be asked by one of our adoptive families if we would be interested in her class doing a social responsibility – they would plan an entire activity to support us! So on June 27, we and a pup or 2, will be visiting this amazing group of kids and show them what they helped achieve!

CaliCan’s DOGumentary at Grandin Theatres – 101-22 Sir Winston Churchill, St. Albert
Were you unable to attend the original premiere of the exciting DOGumentary shot and produced by Wingnut Studios of Edmonton? That’s okay!! We will be giving everybody a second chance to come out and see it. Instead of showing a feature film to start, we will play the DOGumentary at the top of each hour and open the floor to questions after wards!

The “July Chihuahua – It’s an all CHEESE Flight!” – Edmonton International Airport
What happens when you shorten chihuahua and then make it a plural? You get CHEESE! This flight will have 7 adorable chi’s coming to Canada, with the cheeeeeesiest names and sweet personalities! Keep an eye on our Adopt page around the early part of July for information on who will make that cut!

The SCRUFFIEST most FLUFFIEST Flight! – Edmonton International Airport
Yup, that’s right! A second flight in as many days!! This flight will feature 5 of the scruffiest and fluffiest little dogs, who are all set with their winter coats to become new Canadians. But first they want to check out the summer here.
These pups will be going to an adoption event the following weekend so won’t be posted until nearer that date. Keep watching the Adopt page, our Facebook page, and website, for details on that!

The Scruffies and Fluffies will be available to meet and put in an application for! So come on down and visit with us and their foster homes to find out how you can possibly adopt one of these little cutie-pies!

We are currently still planning this month – but one highlight is the opportunity to attend at Fortis Alberta once again!! We will also likely have another flight happen, depending on how many of the Summer Pups are still looking for their Furever Home.
